At Advantage Injury Management Services, we see clients with a variety of injuries every day. However one of the most common workplace injuries we see are shoulder injuries. There a number of different types of shoulder injuries that can occur. The most common include:
- Partial or full thickness tears to the rotator cuff. The rotator cuff is made up of 4 muscles, supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, subscapularis. These stabilise and allow movement of the shoulder.
- Bursitis, which is inflammation of the shoulder. The Bursa of the shoulder is a fluid sac which helps reduce friction. This occurs in a number of different areas of the shoulder and can be named subdeltoid bursitis (front of shoulder) or subacromial bursitis (top of shoulder).
- Tendonitis is inflammation of the tendons of the shoulder.
- Shoulder impingement is a condition where the tendons in your shoulder are intermittently trapped and compressed during shoulder movements.
- A frozen shoulder occurs when the capsule of the shoulder is affected.
My case load and clients come from a wide range of industries including but not limited to cleaners, store persons, factory workers, electricians, labourers, nurses, truck drivers, bar attendants, mechanics, machinery operators and teachers; and can have any of the above conditions.
